Description
Tarren Gauntlet Structural Firefighting Gloves – NFPA 1971, 2018 Certified
The Tarren Gauntlet by Holík America is built for structural firefighters who need maximum heat protection, reliable grip, and all-day comfort on the fireground. With a rugged leather shell, advanced thermal layers, and a Porelle® FR moisture barrier, these gloves are engineered to perform under intense heat, water, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogen exposure-without sacrificing dexterity.
Built for Structural Fireground Operations
The Tarren Gauntlet is designed for interior attack, overhaul, and extended operations where heat, steam, and mechanical hazards are nonstop. The anatomical 3D cut follows the natural shape of the hand for better control of tools, hose lines, and equipment, while the gauntlet cuff provides extended protection over the wrist and lower forearm.
Special stitching techniques keep the lining locked in at the fingertips, so it won’t twist or pull out when donning and doffing-even when the gloves are wet.
Outer Shell – Durable, Heat-Resistant Leather
The Tarren Gauntlet uses specially treated split cowhide leather on both the back and the palm to balance toughness and flexibility:
- Back: Split cowhide leather, treated for heat, water, and abrasion resistance
- Palm: Split cowhide leather for a confident, secure grip under tough conditions
- Fourchettes (between fingers): DuPont™ Nomex® fabric for improved dexterity and heat resistance
This construction gives firefighters a glove that holds up to repeated use in harsh environments while remaining supple enough for fine tasks.
Inner Layers – Thermal and Mechanical Protection
Under the leather shell, the Tarren Gauntlet integrates layered protection where it matters most:
- Thermo-protective layer on the back of the hand and thumb to block radiant and convective heat
- Aramid non-woven fabric provides increased heat, abrasion, and cut resistance, reinforcing the glove against mechanical hazards
These inner layers help maintain hand safety during flashover-level heat exposure and physically demanding tasks.
Moisture Barrier – Porelle® P540 FR Membrane
At the core of the glove’s protection is the Porelle® P540 polyurethane FR membrane, which:
- Creates a barrier against water, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and bacteria
- Remains highly breathable, flexible, and sensitive, supporting prolonged wear without excessive heat buildup
- Maintains firmness and structure to keep the glove feeling stable and secure on the hand
This barrier ensures that moisture and contaminants stay out while perspiration can escape.
Lining – Stable, High-Density Aramid
Inside, the Tarren Gauntlet features an aramid lining with increased thickness designed for both protection and usability:
- Increases heat protection by trapping more insulated air around the hand
- Will not stretch or pull out, maintaining shape over time and through repeated washes
- Brushed on the reverse to allow more air inside the glove and further enhance thermal insulation
- Enables easy donning and doffing even when wet, reducing downtime between assignments
Comfort, Dexterity & Grip
Holík’s anatomical 3D cut gives the Tarren Gauntlet a contoured, pre-curved shape that:
- Improves grip on tools and nozzles
- Enhances fine motor control for gear adjustments and equipment handling
- Reduces hand fatigue during long shifts
The glove’s design focuses on breathability, sensitivity, and flexibility, so firefighters retain critical feel and control even with multiple layers of protection.
Secure Wrist & Gauntlet Protection
The elastic-tightened wrist helps keep the glove seated correctly on the hand, reducing the risk of debris or embers entering the glove. The gauntlet cuff is designed to interface with turnout sleeves for continuous coverage and enhanced protection around the wrist and lower forearm.
NFPA 1971, 2018 Edition Certified
The Tarren Gauntlet is certified by SEI to comply with NFPA 1971, 2018 Edition for structural firefighting. It is manufactured in Holík’s European facilities under ISO 9001:2015-compliant quality systems to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
